DW's new PC - smokin'!

Not literally smokin' but very fast. No doubt partially due to having a totally clean OS install (W10) but also i7-6700HQ 6th gen processor.

I had intended to buy an i5-6300HQ but Dell took it off their website so I let myself be upsold for a good price on the i7.

Then, before the i7 even got shipped, I got an email from Dell about the one I really wanted (i5) was on sale. To make a long story short, they're going to refund me the difference between the i5 sale price and the i7 (over $200) and DW keeps the i7.

Way to go Dell!

My Inspiron 17R5737 really screams too with it's I7 setup... Hope it stays this way... When this first starts up it is almost click click display... My older XP-PRO would always four to five minutes to get to that poiint haha...

We got ours through QVC sales at a real good price with all the stuff they added and a 6-easy payment plan with no interest... We have used QVC to replace all of our tablets and PC laptops now...

That is good.. I remember a few years back when IBm and others sold a bunch of laptops (One of which I owned) where several of them (not mine recall got it first) the "Made in China' batteries really were Somking, and flaming as well.

That's good. We wanted to get the very latest processor (i7 6th gen) because we tend to keep our PCs for a very long time.
  • I agree a good processor makes all the difference. You can add more RAM and upgrade the storage, but you are stuck with the processor.

I've also noticed that Win10 seems to run faster than Win7, even on the same computer. It seems to be a much better operating system.
  • I also have a Dell with an i7-6700HQ processor. In the Dell lineup it's a 7559 and came with 16GB of RAM.

However, what really makes it a screamer is that it has two hard drives, a 128MB SSD and a 1TB HDD. All programs, including Windows 10 are installed on the SSD so the boot process is amazingly fast.

I strongly urge anyone who wants to turbocharge your computer to get an SSD to replace their boot drive. It's well worth it.
