My wife and I are big into library checkouts. The problem is that new books have long waiting lists and when they become available you can only check them out for 3 weeks maximum. The 3 week part is OK but my problem is that I get on the list for 3 or 4 books and they all become available at the same time. You can't drop down the list. If you're not ready for a book when your time comes you have to start at the bottom of the list. I get 3 or 4 books and can't get them all finished unless I dedicate a lot more time for reading that I do now.
I have asked the person in charge to change the system so that you can bypass a book on your list without dropping off and starting over. It should be better for everyone and keep people from tying up books they can't get around to reading. So far, no success.
