I have a Nook from Barnes and Noble. I chose the Nook because its native ebook format is epub which was the only format offered initially by my library. They now offer Kindle versions also. Last year I upgraded to the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight. The Simple Touch is a great ebook reader but the GlowLight version has a major flaw. The screen is easily damaged and bright light will shine through the damaged area when the GlowLight is turned on. I have exchanged mine twice under warranty. If I where to start over I think I would go with the Kindle Paperwhite.
If you have a collection of ebooks that are not DRM protected, I highly recommend a software program called Calibre. It organizes your ebook collection and can convert between different ebook formats. There is a plug-in available that will strip out the DRM encryption.
