Just because you have an Ipad (like me) there is no reason not to get most of your books from Amazon which has a much larger collection of books than Apple and many more free ones from even well known published authors. The Kindle App is available and you can see all your Amazon books. Ibook along with Dropbox app can put all your Epub (Nook and non Mobi library books) on the Ipad. You can use Calibre to store all your books no matter where they come from. Calibre will work with the Marvin App on Ipad and you can move your books through the usb connection.
Along with the poor interface of Itunes, you need more than just Apple for books if you want to read the many latest books.
