Or, you could get a chrome book and not need any of the aforementioned stuff. I have just about quit using my laptop completely as I have found the chrome book does pretty much all I do on a daily basis. Just sayin'.
The chromebook is designed for internet use and email but you can work offline in google docs or other offline apps. Most things people do are online activities and in that way it is pretty much equal. The fact that it uses apps and no downloaded programs keeps it virus free. There are still things I have to do on my laptop but not much. You can use microsoft office suite online and I do save all my documents in word. The chromebook is extremely fast loading and switching webpages. I have a 65gig flash drive "stubby" that is my "hard drive" and it has hdmi port and sd card port along with two 3.o usb ports. It's not everybody's answer but it works for me.:)
