Simple! You need to read the install directions carefully:
When installing the FREE version of Malwarebytes(MB), you need to un-check "Enable free trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium". If you don't, you'll enable the paid version which will only work for a limited time until you buy a license.
