Microsoft is getting ready to replace Windows 10 with the Microsoft Managed Desktop. This will be a “desktop-as-a-service” (DaaS) offering. Instead of owning Windows, you’ll “rent” it by the month.

I am very curious how this would play out in an organization, say, with about 290,000 employees... would the corporation just stay with Windows 10 in the vain hope things would get better?
I suspect the marketing guy’s at Microsoft have already talked to their major customers and found they are more than OK with the plan. Paying a monthly fee for continuous support, updates on Office and Windows can be budgeted. The last thing a corporation wants is to have 290,000 PC running different versions of Windows because they turned off automatic updates. Been there years ago when updating PC’s required you to physically be at the PC.
