Hheadphones can help and there are many good headphones out there..
My favorite is my pair of vintage Bose noise canceling for music and such. About 300 dollars 10 years ago or so but man are they good at what they do.
For communications I am told NOTHING beats HeilSound.. However if you go to the PRO side of HeilSound.. Well he's also the go-to company for many Musicians.
Mr. Heil is willing to answer questions as to equlizers and such, if you do nto find what you like on his page.. Just add www. and .com to the company name.
Back in the 1960's the GO TO microphone was made by a company in Michigan (I am kind of pro, MI) Electro Voice 664 was I think the model.. You saw it with Garage bands, You saw it on stage on Ed Sullivan or Andy Williams, Any Music Show.. The company was founded by a Ham Radio operator who, sadly, never graduated High School but it was the best stage mic of the day.
Well the company grew and the board feld that a High School Drop out did not give the proper "Professional Image" so they retired him.. he went out and founded a new company, which recently sold for a tidy sum (he retired this time by HIS choice) making Ham Radio gear...
But this left a vacuum in the MIC world.. So Up steeped Bob Heil.. He too is a ham, only he is Dr. Bob Heil (Honorary doctorate last year) and many bands including the Eagles, use his mics exclusively when allowed to use their own hardware. (not all venues let them use their own mics)
He has designed hardware that did not exist but someone came to him and said "I'd like to______" and Bob made it happen.
He designed a Noise Canceling Mic with excelent fidelity. that actively CANCELS sounds from behind the mic.
And he designed Headphones as well
Oh, he is a member of the Rock And Roll hall of Fame
Neat trick when you consider his primary musical insturment: Theater Organ.
(just for fun to to WTWW dot US long about 1:55 Eastern Saturday, choose LISTEN LIVE, then Transmitter 2.. you will get a few minutes of old time Rock and Roll, the kind of stuff popular when I was in school, and then Theater Organ from the Ozarks, Supposed to start at 2pm Eastern but .. Well, bit flexible on that, Then AR (Amateur Radio) newsline
Then back to R & R
