Thanks to all!

I had hoped someone would have piped-up and remarked about compatibility of higher end headphones used with a laptop's sound card. Big expensive speakers require big expensive amplification. I do not want to lay out a lot of money for headphones then a thousand miles later find out my laptop cannot possibly push them.
