FMCA / VERIZON UNLIMITED PLAN IS CANCELLED

FMCA has just announced on their website that the unlimited plan they were offering with Verizon has been CANCELLED, NO signups will be honored.
  • The demise of this plan could have been seen from space. Not sure what FMCA told Verizon but it clearly was not what Verizon was expecting. I am guessing a " soft test" with 5000 members (5000!) blew the top of someone's head clean off.
  • I think the bigger problem was that word of this plan had taken legs well beyond the RV world. Even Google News picked up the story. After our experiences with the Millenicom and Omnilynx Verizon plans, I didn't have high expectations for this deal to fly for long. These Verizon deals always seem to be no-contract plans, and that leaves it open for either side to exit at will. Fortunately, our low cost unlimited AT&T Mobley Connected Car and 250GB Homebase plans are still doing well, and both are available as contract plans, suggesting some commitment to maintaining them on AT&T's part.
  • Apparently, unlimited is still a sore spot for Big Red. Someone in corporate realized RV owners might be heavy data users?
  • VERIZON WIRELESS PLAN UPDATE

As you may have heard, FMCA had been working with Verizon to offer a special rate on an unlimited wireless data plan. After the “soft launch” of this plan to a test group of FMCA members (before the planned launch to all members), Verizon called FMCA and told us to pull the offering. Verizon officials indicated that they will not be honoring any of the orders that had been entered during this test period. We are still working to see whether FMCA and Verizon can put together an advantageous plan for FMCA members, but at this point we are not certain what will result from discussions with Verizon officials.
