Ford Sync using additional backup camera

Greetings all,

Wondering if anybody has hooked a second camera to to existing Ford factory Sync system? I have 2011 F350 King Ranch and it has camera in the tailgate, I also have a voyager wireless camera on my fifth wheel and was wondering if there if anyway I could incorporate that system to the sync system and switch between the two cameras? My fiver camera operates when power is applied to the parking lights so it is not on all the time. Otherwise I will still have to resort with my Garmin GPS that works with Voyager system, but it would be nice not have so much clutter up front.

thanks!

How exactly does a plug and play salt spreader camera help a guy that has an existing camera on his RV that he wants to tie into the factory nav screen?

    LOL
  • Lockpick

The Lockpick is activated by the phone button on the steering wheel and some functions are on the touch screen. Installation is pretty easy. There are two trim covers on the lower outside parts of the center dash panel. Pop those off and find a small bolt under each one. After removing the bolts, it is as simple as carefully pulling the dash panel loose from the bottom and unplugging some wiring harnesses to allow complete removal. There are 4 screws/bolts that hold the head unit in the dash. Once you pull the head unit, the rest is just unplugging harnesses and plugging the Lockpick inline. Maybe a 1 hour job the first time, but only takes me about 15 minutes now. The hardest part is getting the darn Lockpick module stashed in the dash. There isn't much room in there.

As previously stated, if you had to go to the dealer for warranty work related to Sync or the head unit, simply remove the Lockpick prior to your visit. There are no stored codes or other evidence that it was ever there.
  • Won't void your warranty... you're not changing anything - just adding an aftermarket accessory. if you have trouble with the sync system, remove lockpick before taking to dealer.

As for removing dash, they're usually not as difficult as they look - check youtube, there is bound to be some install videos.

Install on an older F150, just one that came up on a quick search

    clicky
  • Hey guys a few questions on lockpick will it void your factory warranty? How difficult is it to install do have to tear the dash up to get to the back of sync system? Which looks like a PITA . Thanks..

  • x2 for the lockpick ... check google like ford sync lockpick

it's a computer module you plug into your nav system, enables all sorts of features Ford locked out or charges extra for... they buy these nav system from Japanese / Germans, who offer a lot of features in their respective cars, but Ford/Dodge/GM dumb them down for us Americans.

could you expand on that?what is it,and where do get something like that?
  • You have to have a Coastaltech Lockpick to switch between multiple cameras.
