Frustrated with Amazon service

I recently posted about a problem with a Kindle Fire HD.Some of you responded with suggestions.Nothing worked.here's the problem. When it comes on it asks for a parental control password which it never did before. And it won't let me go any farther.
I went online and read about Kindle problems and how to fix them.I tried typing in any password 8 times. Then a message should come up asking if you wanted to reset the device,Well I can type it in 100 times and nothing happens.I also tried holding the off button for 20 seconds then turning it back on.Nothing.Called amazon twice. All you get is some guy from India who reads off a piece of paper. After the first try,Amazon sent a message asking if they resolved my problem which they didn't.They told me to try again.Same results.I told they guy I talked to that I needed a higher level of help than he could offer. He said there was no other level. That is the problem. They need someone who can work around this problem instead of reading off a piece of paper. I called Best Buy where I bought it and they told me to do the same things.Don't have clue what to do now.I have a device that is only a year old that we can't use.

  • Did you call Kindle customer service? It's different than the general Amazon customer service.
  • Does this help?
    Hello B. Baum,

The only way to reset the WiFi restriction password is to perform a factory reset on your Kindle Fire. To perform a factory reset on your Kindle Fire, tap the Quick Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen, then tap More. Tap "Device" and select "Reset to Factory Defaults."

This will completely reset your device and remove all personal information and content from your Kindle Fire. If you have added any personal documents, music, videos, or other content to your Kindle Fire, ensure it has been backed up prior to resetting your Kindle Fire.

    I hope this helps!

    Best Regards,

  • I don't have a Kindle, but did you try holding down both the power and home buttons for 20-30 secs? Then power back on?

If that doesn't work, try holding down the volume up and power button. Or the volume down and power buttons for 20-30 secs to see if it will boot into basic Rom mode.
  • I just went to google and searched for "reset Kindle fire HD".
It gave many, many, many returns including Youtube vids on on to fix the problem.
You didn't describe anything that precluded a reset so maybe if you google the problem you'll find the solution…..
  • Twenty seconds is not long enough to reset mine. It takes over thirty seconds.
  • Try this, open your internet browser, navigate to google...type in "reset kindle fire parental control password". Follow the instructions found on the screen.
  • You've searched here and google and nothing works? there are posts on here about it.
  • i have the nextbook and on the side there is alittle reset button to push with a small paperclip.does the kindle have the same thing?
