You can plan all you want, but whether the Nuvi will accept your route depends on how your Preferences are set on the Nuvi.
I have the Nuvi 465T and it has an option for "Auto" or "Truck". If you use the "Truck" then transferring a route will be changed depending on the "Truck" specifications. I thought it would be nice to input my weight, length, and height in the "Truck" section and then I could avoid roads that were inappropriate for my size. I soon gave that up when I discovered that the Nuvi constantly changed the route I transferred due to the commercial "Truck" specs. It was a good idea, but just didn't work. I changed it back to "Auto" and no longer have problems. Adding waypoints, vias, and such will not force the Nuvi to follow the route you upload if it conflicts with the settings that you're using on the Nuvi.
