We now know that the new Garmin RV 760 does not have a setting to not route on propane restricted roads, tunnels, and bridges. I emailed Garmin to ask if perhaps this is just built into how their RV unit routes and will avoid those routes automatically without a special profile setting. The answer is no.This is the reply that I got back which seems to be the standard Garmin reply no matter what is asked about features."Thank you for contacting Garmin International. As of right now that is not a function of the RV 760, but it is definitely great input. I have passed along that concern to the developers and hopefully it will be resolved with a software update.With Best Regards,"Without this feature, this is a problem. Almost every RV carries some amount of propane and there are routes that this unit is going to route on that this will be a problem if you are stopped. The Rand McN has this feature, the Magellan has it, even Co-pilot for Android has it. (Apparently, Tom Tom's new RV GPS does not have it, unless it is just not included in the manual.)

Honestly...how many roads, routes, tunnels, bridges are there really that have propane restrictions.In 30 years of towing..with a number of coast to coast, boarder to boarder loops we maybe have come across 6 times where the only restriction was to shut off the tanks. There was adequate signage and places to pull off to do this.This is a consideration but, for me, not a deal breaker when choosing a GPS

Amen, I've come across 2 in all my years of traveling, and both of those would have been easy to avoid. It really doesn't seem to be an issue for most people/travelers.

But on the same note, have to wonder why Garmin didn't add this capability in their "RV" GPS? Or did they just port the bus/trucking features from their other GPS into their RV GPS?Propane restrictions are not uncommon in my east coast region.

This is a consideration but, for me, not a deal breaker when choosing a GPS

There is a major difference between an RV carrying one or two small tanks of propane and a commercial propane truck carrying thousands of gallons. For example, the Pennsylvania Turnpike allows RVs to pass through its tunnels, while commercial propane trucks are prohibited. An RVer using a commercial truck GPS will be sent on a lot of unnecessary detours.

There are a number of tunnels and bridges on the East Coast that restrict propane. And as stated above, the Garmin Dezi has this feature for trucks, but there too it is left out of RV mode.

If Garmin was doing this right, they would have gotten this part right. This is what you are paying twice for this as what you pay for a car GPS. I don't expect any surprises when on a route if the GPS is specifically made for an RV.
