GMAIL ON IPAD

Having a brain fart here so bear with me...

Setting up a new email for my mother on an IPad mini...I can get into her email account on there via the IPad but when I want to delete an email I don't have that option on there to delete it...normally you would swipe to the left and the option would come up to delete...also along the top where the pic of the trash can should be is the archive button...

Any help???

I am accessing her Gmail account via the mail tab on the IPad mini...when I want to delete messages I don't have the option anywhere

Are you using an email client on the iPad mini
Or are you going to the Gmail website?
There is a difference in the way they operate
I do my Gmail from my android tablet and my android phone and my laptop
There is no swipe to delete..on any of those devices

Can you try to set everything up from your pc
Then use her iPad to access it

Look in settings for the gmail account. There should be an advanced settings tab. Under there you might find a selection for archive or delete mail.
