Goodby Google Chrome (a rant)

What a pain.
I've been a user from day one. My needs are few, I was happy with it so why change.

Almost everywhere I go that needs a password is acting up, from my provider to my bank.

Google has become so an*l on security they are actually crippling the app. Anything that smells of a popup stops it cold. There must be a workaround but who cares it will only be something else tomorrow.

I've been at this for years so please hold off on browser suggestions, it's all been taken care of.

A couple nights ago for the first time I had Google “alert” me to “an unknown device” logging in to my gmail account using my password. After much screwing around to change my password and re-allow my non-Google email client I finally located a subtle little wedge that provided details of said attacker. The IP address was for my ISP router! Uggh! What **** system that didn’t recognize the address that literally every device in my house has been transmitting from for years.

I’ve often referred to Google as the 90% company. Such beautiful data and applications but always missing the mark just a little on usability, then changing it repeatedly only to still miss.
  • I have no issues. Clear your browser cache and dump your cookies every so often. That's an issue with every browser.
  • I'm having trouble with live video on one of my wife's favorite websites, Mt. Ashland live webcam.

  • I was a big Firefox user for many years but switched to Chrome. No ISSUE, EVER.

Still using Chrome. you can turn the pop up blocker off (As I recall) I'm not having issues with passwords on most sites. I do have 2 that bug me. but I tried alternate browsers on one of those and .. same bug.
  • It's (Google, not just Chrome) been creeping in the wrong direction for a few weeks, it seems.
Excessive false alarm security alerts, are driving me nuts to the point where I'm disabling many of the security features that used to be non-intrusive.
Removing smartphone app access to contacts/phone book/phone numbers is crippling some of the most useful phone apps going.
