Well they 'both' are scrambling so as not to loose sales to Lenovo.
Lenovo got the jump on both of them by opening a production plant in NC. They will be the first to engage in:
"onshoring or reshoring — a move by manufacturers to reverse the decades-long trend of transferring production to low-cost countries overseas."
"Lenovo Paves the Way for Made-in-America Computers as North Carolina Facility Ramps Up Full Production"
They asked Apple when their computers and phones would be made in America. He just shrugged his shoulders.
I'm not sure how this equates to either Google or Apple losing sales? I guess there are a few die hard people out there with a strict rule that they will only buy American made products but I don't believe that is a huge number.
If Lenovo can be competitive with other mfrs while producing in the US, that's great and I hope the trend continues as we do need to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US. However, companies will only do it as long as they don't sacrifice profits.
