Interesting how many people don't get it.
Apple's App store sells only to people using IOS, that's it. While the Google App store sells for any Android based device, which means... Samsung, HTC, LG, Google, etc.
Which means you have one company "competing" with several (for market share).
Weirdly Apple appears to be doing well, iPhone's total market share has actually gone up over the last couple of months (even after the new Samsung new phone was introduced).
Mlts22 has also hit upon a problem with Google's. A lack of depth in checking applications for "issues". Google could easily address this.
1492 also hits the real advantage for Apple, the uniform environment that Apple provides to developers. I know when I was still slamming code, this was a huge advantage for us, as the development was simpler.
That being said, I don't own an IOS device, a tablet and phone running Android yes.
