hello I was looking for a hand held GPS or maybe and app that does not use data when using it. I need this for when I pull into a city and go for a bike ride or a walk, so I know how to get back...

I have a Garmin nuvi2595 which is really aimed at auto usage but is small enough for use as a handheld. I a not certain about battery life, so I would carry a USB charger/brick.
This model uses a USB Mini-B connector which is NOT what most other mobile devices use. Mini-B cables are not common, but you can find them on Amazon or eBay.
