My suggestion is the Sygic GPS app. Available in both Android and iOs. It does not need a data connection. It holds the maps on the phone (you only download the states you need to save memory space). Has a cool 'heads up' display function for night use that will shine the display on the windshield. Only about $25. Watches your speed and lots of other features. Well worth it.
