Doesn't help much today and they still won't offer all of your channels like DISH does.
DirecTV does offer a couple of apps but GennieGO only works on your home router. If I'm home I have enough tv's to watch. Don't need my phone. Then they have another app for the road but it only offers a bunch of old tv programs and old movies. Netflix offers much more.
Except you never know what kind of shenanigans Dish is going to play with channel selection either. last month, they removed all the Turner channels, CNN, etc. Now, the Fox channels aren't available. It's quite irritating when you pay for a service, then they change the channel selections Willy Nilly all the time.
Sir; the reason those channels went away was Turner was demanding over $2 per customer per month increase and Fox is currently wanting over $6 month increase. If Dish had caved our bills would have gone up over $8 month just due to those networks. That would have been on top of the already announced $5 month 2015 increase. Thank you Dish for standing firm and keeping our costs down!
If you want to keep up with the issues, the best place I have found is: http://www.multichannel.com/news/satellite.
