Great to have friend who doesn't have DirecTV

I am, and have been a DirecTV customer for 15 years but feel fortunate, today to have friends who aren't.

Today, we have, unfortunately, had to be on the road and unable to sit in front of a tv to watch the bowl games. Thank goodness for a friend with DISH Network who allowed me to use his log on to access the WATCHESPN App. My smart phone along with Chromecast puts the games right on my back seat tv while traveling. Also, thanks to my wonderful wife for doing the driving,

WATCHESPN is available to almost everyone in the US that doesn't have DirecTV. I looked it up and counted around 325 cable and satellite providers who allow customers access to this app.

Not only does my DISH friend have access to ESPN. He can also watch any of his subscribed channels through his smart phone. This is a big deal. I hate to say it, but I guess it's time to rethink my DirecTV commitment.

Doesn't help much today and they still won't offer all of your channels like DISH does.

DirecTV does offer a couple of apps but GennieGO only works on your home router. If I'm home I have enough tv's to watch. Don't need my phone. Then they have another app for the road but it only offers a bunch of old tv programs and old movies. Netflix offers much more.

Except you never know what kind of shenanigans Dish is going to play with channel selection either. last month, they removed all the Turner channels, CNN, etc. Now, the Fox channels aren't available. It's quite irritating when you pay for a service, then they change the channel selections Willy Nilly all the time.

  • With this, who needs an in-motion dome?

How about posting your friend's login information so we all can steal from Dish?

    I'll get right on that.
  • I know what you mean about Dish remote viewing services.
I tell my wife how I hate paying the bill, but when we are on the road it sure is handy and I can't give it up. :)
