Hands Free Cell Phone Setup

I don't want to wear an earpiece. People are saying that my visor mounted unit sounds better to them than when I am using my phone's microphone. I know the Motorola speaker is louder and clearer than the one in my Samsung phone. All sound like good ideas. I had no idea there were that many options. The new law will sell a bunch of them.

Highly recommend a Jawbone earpiece with their noise cancellation technology. Works amazingly well. Advantage for an earpiece bluetooth setup is that you can use in any car you own, as well as out of the car when hands free comes in handy.

My Tomtom GPS also has Bluetooth capability, and works quite well. It displays the incoming caller's info.

Most states will let you use a SINGLE Blue-Tooth earpiece like a Jawbone.

or the speaker icon on my smart phone works.. Rather well in fact.

Thanks again to all who provided some help. I picked up a Motorola Sonic Rider at out local Wal-Mart for $40. It has great battery life, good sound, good price, easier to use than the system GM installs in new vehicles, and can be moved from vehicle to vehicle. Limited in features other than receiving data via Bluetooth from phone, mp3 players, and gps.

The best aftermarket one I found was made by BLUE ANT.... Clipped on the sunvisor... BLUE TOOTH and linked up to both my wifes and my cellphone... Great quality. I had one in both car and truck and also would work great bringing inside the trailer... You turn these on by pushing on the side microphone that springs out...



Both our car and truck have a blue tooth sinc up now so don't know where my older units got off to... Maybe the kids got them haha...

These were in $50 range...

My hearing aids have a Bluetooth option, so I have hands free phone all the time without taking the phone out of my pocket.
Of course that is only if you are 'lucky enough' to have bad hearing :)

Ontario has had that law for several years. For my old truck I bought a hands free reciever unit that clipped to the sunvisor - got it at Radio Shack. It connected to the phone with Bluetooth. To answer a call it was just touch a button on the unit. The unit was rechargeable from the 12V outlet in the truck. It did the job well.

New truck - bluetooth built in and that works really well as described above.

My State did the same, but never did like wearing wireless headphones. So for my one Chrysler minivan that didn't already have Bluetooth(BT), I just installed a Pyle BT capable USB FM/AM receiver found on Amazon for $49. Also needed a custom $5. wiring harness and soldered the connections which was the most time consuming part of the install. Was actually a downgrade on the Panasonic CD receiver I installed few years earlier, but not that much difference. Actually, like using a USB Flash drive instead of CDs for music files.

The BT phone function works perfectly. Will pair automatically with my smartphone when the receiver is on. Microphone is built into the receiver, along with one touch answer/disconnect with callers feed through the van's speakers. A separate wireless remote can be used to place calls.

BT also works well for streaming music files from my smartphones or tablet.
