Harbor Freight Infrared Laser Thermometer

Has anyone used this Harbor Freight Infrared Laser Targeting Thermometer? If so, how accurate was it and has it lasted? If you have one, has it been helpful in spotting bearing and tire overheating? I noticed that Harbor Freight has them on sale for $35.99.

I have used one for years for looking at wheel bearing heat... Close enough for me... Back in my working days they were most useful around high power AC connections for heat spots... Would spot a loose connection real quick...

Since you brought it up I am just realizing I don't know where mine is now...

Same thing has happened to my Sears clamp on DC AMMETER... It isn't in its normal storage place either...

I do have son-in-laws around alot haha...

  • I have one and compared it to my Fluke ($89.99) infrared thermometer and they read the same. :)
  • Works very well for me. I tested it against a probe thermometer and the temps were virtually the same.
  • I've had mine for 4+ years and it works very well. Hangs on a hook behind the drivers seat, gets banged around and never had a problem with it.
  • I have one and have used it in the kitchen (for the oven) and it seems to work fine.
