HD on dual tuner receiver
I have dish net. vip622 receiver and on tuner 2 you only receive sd however i find if i have the receiver set to single mode(which i usually do)i the receive HD on all tv's. when talking to a friend ...

It's more than just making an image "fit". Think about all those SD DVDs (480p) that get slipped into BluRay DVD (1080p) players. Today, I'll bet most players display SD pretty well -- or well enough so the average Joe doesn't notice.
Again, native HD will always be higher quality.
