I set up my TT for satellite TV. We have two flat screens: one in the bedroom and the other in the livingroom. As long as you don't need separate programs on each TV, set up is fairly easy. You need 2 things:
1. IR repeater (infrared repeater). These are available at a good price on Amazon. I bought this one. You can go to the manufacturer's website and for a few bucks get a 2nd receiver. I have a receiver in each room. The transmitters are attached to the ir inputs on my dvd and sat receiver. The receiver lives in a cabinet near the livingroom TV. No need for it to be exposed.
You should get an HDMI splitter (1 in - 2 out). This is also inexpensive. I got this one. It costs $20. I have the usual DVD, CD, Radio unit. I got a video splitter to split the composite video for each TV.
Now all remote controls work in both the bedroom and the livingroom and all entertainment is available to both sets. For satellite reception I have a Dish Tailgater. It's not bad, but the Dish programming prices are much higher than DirecTV. The tradeoff is that I can turn Dish off and not pay when I am not traveling.
