I am new to RVing and travelling. How do I stay internet safe whilst using public wifi on sites etc so that I can keep in contact with personal banking sites etc whilst away from home? Not very comput...

For the naysayers, why do you think it's some actual hacker nearby doing the hacking? Just like credit card skimmers, wifi skimmers also can operate wirelessly and largely autonomously. The hackers in control aren't going to drain your bank or max your credit. they package and sell the information for the purpose of creating false identities.
As for providing media proof of this, go ahead and research it, why should I do your homework for you? Take the information or reject it, that's your risk to accept.
Contact your regional homeland security office and ask when the next public cyber security presentation is being held. The FBI and DHS put them on regularly to benefit local law enforcement and municipal government employees.
