How do I stay internet safe when travelling?

Aside from the security concerns, 9 times out of 10 my phone or tablet hotspot is much faster than the public WiFi. I use my hotspot exclusively when balancing the accounts on the road. I really don't think data useage is much of a concern when connecting to bank or bill pay websites even if you get the non-mobile versions.

Now, if you wanted to binge watch Netflix on a Chromecast in your rig, that's an entirely different animal.
