I love my Kindle Paperwhite- battery lasts several days. IMHO, for reading, you cannot beat the e-ink display.
Got the DW a Kindle Fire HD- 7"- it lasts about a day of solid reading- I do put both in airplane mode unless I need a connection- save a lot of battery life.
FWIW, also love my Asus Chromebook flip- 10" tablet sized, lasts a good 9 hours of online work.
