- 96Bounder30EExplorer IIMy 5 year old Samsung HDTV and Blu ray are not supported by Amazon so Dish network sent me a free one back when they took the AMC channel of the air......
I just looked on Craigslist and there were a bunch of Roku players for $25 and up......... - NorCal_DanExplorerYou will need the app. My 3 year old Vizio television has an app that takes me to the app store, and from there I can add apps to my TV. Perhaps your DVD player has something similar?
Also, my new BluRay player was not listed on Amazon as being compatible...I picked a different model, but from the same manufacturer, and it worked. Seemed like the players they listed were higher priced models. Could be a ploy to drive sales on the expensive models. Just a heads up... - wa8yxmExplorer IIIBe aware that tossing video about burns up major bandwidth.. I toss about a gig an hour around the motor home but... it never leaves the house (motorhome) that is the source is in one room and the target is in another. (DVR's networked, just like the ads where you can record in one room, watch in another, Only our company (LIE) lets you do that (I can do it and have for over a decade, used to have 3 networked DVRs now down to 2).

I like Netflix better because it's more HD content.
I get all kinds of streaming content to with my Samsung bluray but I checked the Amazon compatibility site and mine won't work with Amazon. Works awesome with Netflix though! - MrWizardModeratorI have a Sony media player and my pc for my Amazon prime acct
- dangerbirdExplorerSeveral weeks ago I purchased an Amazon Fire TV. This thing is awesome if you're an Amazon Prime member. I've been watching all kinds of TV shows and movies. You can do Netflix, Pandora, etc. too.
Check it out
Fire TV - Ron3rdExplorer IIIThanks for all the info folks. The reason I was interested in Amazon Prime was not only for the streaming video, but you get the free 2 day shipping in many cases, plus the wife has a Kindle Paperwhite and Prime offers thousands of free books and free trials. I might go for it, might not.

We had a relatively new Blu-ray player that was bought just before Amazon started its streaming service. There was no way we could update it to include Amazon, so for less than the cost of a new Blu-ray we bought a Roku. Roku software is updated on a periodic basis and we have access to hundreds of streaming channels.
