How to transfer data from one laptop to another...?

Although not a small computer nerd, I did learn a bit while trying to do the same type transfer. I connected both machines to my router, then hared the drives. from there it was just a copy just line folder to folder on the same machine. What I did learn was to be able to do this, you much have an ID and PASSWORD on both machines. I hve rarely used paswords on my loging, usually just leaving it blank. Found out that IDs must have a password to be able to share data. After that, it was just copy and paste.
