First, my preferred backup software is Acronis TrueImage. I might take some time to understand all of the options, but t is extremely powerful. Once you have it set up, you won't touch it again for a long, long time !
Lots of RAM and an SSD would have brought new life to your old machine ! The performance improvement with those 2 is impressive.
Anyone shopping for a new PC should take a serious look at laptops with AMD RYZEN 5 (and very soon RYZEN 7) in addition to those other items. This may not beat Intel in terms of raw computing, but the graphics will out perform any Intel machine without a dedicated graphics chip. The performance is good enough that Intel is buying some AMD graphics hardware for some of their chips. All of the major manufactures have models with AMD RYZEN chips, but you have to ASK FOR IT ! HP Pavilion 15Z and 17Z have AMD chips, but you have to ask for the upgrade to RYZEN.

The new one is quite a performance improvement over the old! I especially like the solid state hard drive, Xenon and 64GHz ram along with all the other goodies. Only regret is not dropping a little more jack to step up the video card again. I intend to use it fro AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketch-up and Lumion.
