If it was a 1yr old computer, I would agree with you...but a 10yr old computer is so out of date and other parts are likely to fail in the near future...it's just not worth it. Throw in a little extra to get a new computer with lots of RAM and an SSD.
Though really unless you are doing high end gaming or other power hungry tasks, a basic $300-500 computer is plenty.
