I hung a flat screen all by myself!

I was surprised to discover how easy it was to mount a flatty in my 2004 Southwind. After removing the old TV, I just found a wall mount at Best Buy that would span the frame that held the old TV in place, screwed the mount in and hung the flatty right up. It covers the hole so well that no other construction is necessary, and I can store stuff in the hole behind the flatty! A benefit, besides better picture, is that the TV tunes in the OTA channels without needing a separate tuner, as was the case with the old TV. The TV removes easily and tilts for optimal viewing. Since the flatty is wider than the old TV, I just slide it side to side to get access to the cabinets on either side of the TV. Alrighty!

  • Nice job.
It's amazing that you can mount a much larger modern TV in the same space as the old ones, isn't it. Although my 2011 model came with a relatively modern 26" LCD, I was able to put a newer 32" LED in the same space with no major modifications.

When people post "How do I upgrade my TV?" type questions, I want to say 'Just Do It" as each one is different and you have to measure and research mount types, TV types, sizes etc. for your own situation. I guess you just have to have some common sense and imagination. It's really not that hard.

Is that a Sound Bar across the top?

    And therein lies the problem!

Nopers. That's just the top of the wood tv enclosure peeking over the top of the TV. But you just reminded me that I can wire the TV into the surround system. I'll do that next time we're "camping"!

    Glad to help ;)
