all posts about this cordcutting so far are SPOT ON. even if some posted facts appear to be in contradiction, they really aren't.
the cable co's model of 100-200+ channels of a few good current content + 100s of channels endlessly cycling thru 30 y/o reruns is broke, and they know it. the bundling thing has helped them crawl along for a while now, but going forward, all they will have of value to sell is broadband data.
my bill w/ internet and 70+ cable channels is approaching $150 w/o their crummy (compared to tivo) dvr.
$70 alone for 30+ Mbps downstream, 12+ up. (way more than we've needed, before). there is supposedly a 300 Gb limit, but w/o streaming, we MIGHT currently go thru 40 Gb a month w/ laptops and phone on wifi and tivo ethernetted to router.
the cost of broad band is surely gonna rise and data caps will lower. i figure verizon, at&t, et al, will be happy to compete when homes ultimately pay $120/mo for broadband.
the battle looms.
