If you Have a Sale Have some Inventory

Dear Marcus,

I have been a Sams Club/Camping World member since 2006.

On March 20 I recieved an email from Camping World titled "Secret E-Doorbuster Sale at your Local SuperCenter Starting 03/21/13"

The sale was Thursday thru Sunday March 21-24. It had coupons for 3 items, one of them being a Double Pancake LED Light Fixture Item #55018.

I drove over 80 miles from my home in Willis Texas to your store in Katy, Texas to purchase some of the lights. To my dismay they told me they sold out of them early today, Friday morning. So the Sale was for 4 days and they were out of inventory in one day and 2 hours?

Mr. Lemonis, this is bad business.

I had to ask to get a rain check but the rain check expires in 30 days. I asked Olga who wrote the rain check what happens if you don't get them in after 30 days and she said "you will be unable to use the rain check."

Again Mr. Lemonis, this is bad business.

If you do get them in within the next 30 days I am still faced with a 160 mile round trip to get them.

My suggestion to you is that a customer should get a registered rain check that would allow the holder to order the item on line with free freight because the customer had good intensions to buy at your store but the store was under stocked for the sale.

You might want to have a chat with your retail planning people, they are out of touch with reality.

    Well intended, but not practical. Puts the employee in a difficult position; does she believe the customer? Do all employees do what the customer says just because he dropped a name? GREAT! I will call the store and tell them Rod Andersen told me to tell he authorized their shipping me a Honda generator half price! Get my point?

    Mr. Andersen should contact the store himself and make the shipping arrangements, then tell the customer Olga is expecting the call with shipping and billing information.
