If you need an inexpensive laptop, look at a Chromebook

There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding Chromebooks. My son works at a retail store that sells Chromebooks and tells me that almost every Chromebook they sell gets returned after a few days because the purchaser finds they can't install their Windows software even though that fact is repeatedly told to the person before they make the purchase.
