I'm about to throw my satellite

Through the window. I can't seem to get it to connect to the reciever. I have the vue cube flex and direct tv reciever. I've had nothing but trouble since I got this. I connected and scanned and the light indicating connection to sat 101 lit but the receiver gives error 775 that it's not communicating with the dish. In settings it is set to dish type 1 18 inch round and multiswitch 02. Anyone have any ideas? Before I hurl this thing?
  • Has this ever worked? It's amazing what a receiver reset (red button) will accomplish. Tried that?

    You said 18" Dish, multi-switch 02.. Try no multi-switch.

The only options are 01-SWM and 02-Multiswitch. There is no such thing as no multi-switch. The correct setting for 18" round is 02-multiswitch.
  • Ok. I movd the dish to another spot. Apparently the vue cube flex can see the bird enough to know where it is but not for the receiver to read it. This is the 3rd reciever I've tried. Thanks for the advice.

  • I've seen the 775 several times in the past. At times I have disconnected and reconnected the coax connectors and it started working. Any connectors that are exposed to the elements may need to be replaced. The coax itself is not likely bad, but the connectors could be.
  • I have seen coax cables go bad too. Try a different cable.

With this same antenna? If it was a different antenna, the question about which receiver you have still needs to be answered.

e.g. if you have a SWM only receiver, and the other antenna had an SWM LNB, it would have worked then, but not now.
  • Newer DirecTV receivers are SWM only and some require BBC's. What receiver are using?
  • I'll give you $25 bucks for it if you want to junk it. and you can keep the receiver.

  • Good step to eliminate all possible errors. I've had it working a few months ago through the same connection. I'm going to try to move the dish to make sure there are no obstructions.
  • Verify that the coaxial cable is going directly from the dish to the receiver. It should not go through any devices.
Is the cable connection from dish to the receiver from the rig's manufactuer? It could be routed through the antenna power supply. It should not be!
Try running a temporary cable from the dish to the receiver.
