image editing software?

IRFAN VIEW will do batch resize. I use GIMP for creating special artwork for labels that need high res TIF files.

Gimp is very powerful and free. Does a lot similar to Adobe Photoshop

"ImageMagick is a software suite to create, edit, compose, or convert bitmap images." There is a screen interface or command line options to do almost anything to a photo. It is the best batch image editor if you want to edit LOTS of photos in the same way. Use the screen interface to do the 1st photo & it will show the options needed to get the same results using the command line.

It is available for Linux, Windows, Mac Os X, iOS, Android OS, and others.

I use the command line features to

1. take an image from an IP camera
2. overlay weather data (current temp, humidity, rain, etc.)
3. trim the original photo to remove part of the original image
4. re-size the converted image to a specific resolution

The end result is a weather station photo that Weather Underground will display. In my setup it is running every 5 minutes on a 3G WiFi router that was re-flashed to run an OpenWRT Linux.

I also use PAINT or a couple more of available photo editing programs already included on the OS... MICROSOFT OFFICE PICTURE MANAGER comes to mind and works better with more edit options than the OFFICE PAINT program has ...

If you use right mouse click 'OPEN WITH' on a selected photo file on your system you will see a list of available photo editor programs already on your operating system.

RV NET does it best by having a SIZE entry form blank to type in what size you want the photo to be. We just add the HEIGHT entry form info and the WIDTH size is automatic depending what the height was adjusted too..

Only the small sizes used here are for putting images into the signature file...

Just remember to SAVE your REDUCED SIZE PHOTO with a new name and replace the original photo. You can't make a small photo large again without losing picture quality once you do this... I just add a -1 etc to the filename...

I think for that you are going to need a script ..aka a batch file
A command file directed at a specific program for a specific task

Go to CNet.com downloads and search for free image resizers. Look for the most popular and top rated. I've used one of those for years when I don't want to open my main (read, "more complicated") image editing application.

Paint is already in Windows OS and does resize and arrows. If you have MS Office, Power point can insert pics, add arrows and save to an image file.
