Internet Explorer problems

On certain webs sites i go to, my computer locks up. I get a message that "web site not responding" at other times I get "long script error". I regularly scan with 'malware bites" and 'microsoft essentials', never have found any issues.

Slow running script.. I normally click stop script.. I wish there was a good script blocker but there is none for IE (I do not like scripts, since I do not know what they do).

Webpage not responding can mean any of the following:
Your internet link is bogged due to some hackers attacking you (Denial of service) or attackign your ISP

You are using Park Wi-Fi and some )(@#)$*@#) IDIOT is streaming video again.

The web page you are trying to visit is very popular and is overloaded
The web page you are trying to visit, or its ISP, is under attack as above.

And a few other things as well.

NOTE: not a one of those are a problem with your browser.

Steve Gibson, of Gibson Research, Tells a very funny story about a live chat with a script type hacker who told him "I have your T-3 completly shut down" or some such.. never mind that Steve was in chat with him using his totally disabled T-but not 3 connection. (Seems the kid could have figured that out but what can I say) suffice to say Steve is just a little bit better than that kid and YOUR service is now better because of that attack,, Steve wrote blocking software which runs at the ISP level.
  • Firefox is compatible with my Yahoo mail. My Firefox is a Mozilla product, not Yahoo. First time I ever heard that.

If I upgrade to IE9, would I loose my favorites?

You shouldn't lose anything and it should even retain all the same settings too.

  • Firefox is not compatable with yahoo mail (mine).
And Firefox is a yahoo product. Go figure
  • What version of IE are you using? If it's older than IE 9, you will probably find that more web sites are not supporting older versions anymore.

Do you have all the MS updates?

You might have to click on the "Compatibility Mode" icon if it is a newer IE version and you are going to sites that are older and not updated to run the newer versions.

    Or try Chrome.. ;)

    Good luck!

  • Change browser to Mozilla FireFox......stop using that inherently bad Internet Explorer
