Internet Secure Access

We are spending the winter in a RV park in Redding, Ca. The park has WiFi access but I am looking for temporary (4 month) secure internet access that we can subscribe to while in Redding. Any suggestions?

    x2.

Misconceptions that are driven by irresponsible "news" articles and advertising. I'll never forget an ad by LifeLock that showed a young woman in a coffee shop with a small device which was exposing everyone's logins and passwords. Total nonsense, and I reported it to the FTC. That ad was gone overnight.
  • If you have a smartphone and have a data plan just use that. You can either tether with a wire from the phone to the computer or turn most smartphones into a wifi hot spot. I use both. Right now I have my phone connected to my computer. I have an android phone. iPhones can do a hot spot too.

I am sure it is OK as posted on this thread, but whenever I go to a sensitive web site like bank or brokerage I use my cell phone instead of wifi. I also look up at the address bar to make sure there is an s there and not just http.
  • It is a common misconception on these forums that somehow campground wifi is somehow insecure and should be avoided for sensitive business such as banking. The truth is that any banking or credit card site and even Google use HTTPS encryption which makes your connection with the site secure regardless of whether or not the wifi, itself, is secure. Your security is ensured by the connection to the site. The horror stories that people cite as evidence to the contrary almost all deal with people who have been fooled into connecting to wifi networks that pretended to be the wifi belonging to the store or airport, etc. If you are connected to the legitimate wifi for the park you are staying at, this will not be a problem.
  • If the park has cable, you may be able to get service through the carrier. Where I winter, comcast can be had for $15 a month for first six months making it Quite affordable.
  • http://millenicom.com/ It is a wireless service so will go where you need it
