Since you did not specify chemistry, 8 AAA LI would blow 3 D zinc carbon cells out of the water. I do think you have a typo--I'm sure you mean four D cells, not three.
This is silly, of course. No one is going to power their RV on AAA or D cells.
In one month I'll no longer be full time. I think my existing battery bank is going to last a long long time.
