In preparation for a 2 month winter drive with a woman that see's aneed to wash her long red hair every three days....I am going to need to provide power for hair dryer. I am reading a 1.500 pure sine...and I am thinking better a 2,000 to be safe. I am asking for suggestions of manufacturer and any hints you might have. You didn't say what you will be traveling in, so let's assume you have a motorized RV of some sort. Keep in mind that a hair dryer uses a lot of power which, if you use an inverter, means a lot of batteries. Obviously 2000 is better than 1500, and the cost difference isn't significant, so why not just get the 2000 and be done with it? In general, a 1500 watt can supply 12.5 amps, and a 2000 can supply 16.6 amps max at 120v. If it is really important to decide between the two, calculate your amp draw, including the hair dryer and make you choice based on the result.

You don't need a pure sine wave for a hair dryer. Most things will work fine with modified sine wave. Unless you have something that requires PSW, save yourself a bunch of money and go with MSW.

Well often they are expensive to ship.I am not thrilled with the "Quick Connect" connectors on the 120 volt side of things but.. I just put one in and it works wellYOu need one pair of GC-2 per Kilowatt by the way (Batteries) or equal.

There is a big cost savings with a MSW, but things like microwaves and other electronics do NOT like MSW.You need a minimum of TWO 6V golf cart batteries. If you are planning on recharging those batteries with power from the engine alternator read this DC-DC battery charging.I would still carry a 2000W generator.While they do cost more, I recommend an inverter-charger like the Samlex EVO 2212. Simply remove your existing converter, leaving the DC distribution panel and inverter charge directly connected to the house batteries.

You don't need a pure sine wave for a hair dryer. Most things will work fine with modified sine wave. Unless you have something that requires PSW, save yourself a bunch of money and go with MSW.
