Hi Gary,

Be sure to carry a spare fuse (60 amp). I replaced my fuse with an automatic circuit breaker (50 amp).

Depending on the type of output of your furnace, you (she) may be able to dry her hair using the furnace. Many direct output furnace users use this approach to avoid the hassles of an electric hair dryer.

The three will be fine as long as usage is not too heavy. Could move to AGM $$ or lithium $$$$$ if needed or find another compartment for batteries. Or balance with more solar.

As far as a generator...no, that is not going to happen. I don't have room for such a critter. I don't plan on sitting after the hair is dried. It's time to scoot, so a re-charge both from the truck system and solar will bring them back I think. The poster that suggested another type of battery set-up? That I will look into..thanks.

Why oh why does life have to be complicated with hair dryers? I shave my head....

IMHO, a small generator, or a very unhappy wife, is in your future.

Running a hair dryer every third day for +- 3 minutes to dry hair from an inverter even if it is high wattage(1600w) will not run down the batteries enough to be a problem without a genny. Many of us who boondock exclusively have been doing this for years without generators. The OP has been dry camping for years. I'll put my money on Gary to use his experience in finding the right solution for his style of camping.

No, the twelve volt hair driers are not going to "do the deed".

Three 12 volt wired in a balanced manner will be adequate. (and better than 4 six volt jars).

The inverter needs to be as close to the battery bank as humanly possible without being in the same compartment. Use the biggest meanest wire that will fit (welding cable is good).

Be aware that the prowatt line is a "throw away" if the magic blue smoke is let out.

On the 120 volt side, I'd put an outlet in the kitchen, and another in the bathroom.
