Is anyone using Wi-Fi In Motion?

That's why I have an antenna on the RV's roof and a 12 volt cellular amplifier inside ... to boost cellular signals for better Internet and phone reception in fringe areas. I have been able to get onto the Internet from out in remote RV campsites when my phone showed no bars. It's also a safety factor ... being able to get out on our phones when the phones by themselves cannot connect.

I recently changed to a Verizon 3G/4G Jetpack hotspot from a Verizon 3G-only wireless modem to take advantage of 4G speeds when Verizon 4G is available.

I just purchased a Verizon prepaid-plan 3G/4G Jetpack hotspot for the RV to replace the 3G-only Verizon wireless modem I used to plug into the router. I don't know what you mean by "VAT" ... how do I gain more WiFi range from the Jetpack by somehow feeding it's WiFi signal into the MBR1000 router for it to broadcast instead of, or in addition to, the Jetpack's WiFi signal so as to take advantage of the MBR1000's greater WiFi signal range?

That be VAP for Virtual Access Point. It is one feature of the DD-WRT firmware hacks to routers. I do NOT use it when my Galaxy S3 has a connection to VZW. I use its HotSpot. I use the DD-WRT router where theere is no cellular data especially where the CG has TengoInterNOT. It only repeats the signal although it will repeat it at a stronger output. Tengo.... will only allow one login. Using the VAP, I can login on one device through it and then connect all my other devices to the VAP. I would rather eat dirt than use Tengo... but sometimes it is all there is. The I eat dirt.

I'd forgotten that the Cradlepoint can also pick up local WiFi signals. I've never used it that way - only used it to broadcast it's WiFi network after sourcing itself from my (now defunct) Verizon USB modem. It uses more battery power from the RV's batteries when drycamping than the Jetpack does, so I'll probably try most of the time to use only the Jetpack and stay close enough to the Jetpack to stay within it's limited range.

I switched to the Jetpack because you can use it on prepaid plans for intermittent RV trips, while the Verizon USB could not be on prepaid plans.

WiFi as WAN is a feature on many routers that allows it to connect to and repeat an existing Internet source, such as a back-room router or an available hotspot.

In other words the Cradlepoint listens to the JetPack (because you tell it to) and repeats the wifi signal.

Your Cradlepoint router has the ability to connect its network to a variety of internet sources. Traditionally most sources such as cable and DSL modems connect via Ethernet ports. As you noted, the Cradlepoint can accept a USB modem directly. However, it also has the capability to use "WiFi as WAN" in which case it connects to a wifi signal broadcast by another device and then "re-broadcasts" that signal to the devices connected to its wifi network. For example, you could go to a campground and access the local wifi network there and re-broadcast that signal to the devices in your RV. Or, alternatively, you can let the Cradlepoint connect to the wifi signal being broadcast by your Jetpack and distribute it to your network.

If you are unfamiliar with using your Cradlepoint in this manner, I suggest you review your user guide and possibly contact Customer Support for assistance.

I use my IPhone hotspot.

We use our ATT hotspots in-motion

Just let your Cradlepoint treat the Jetpack as if it is any other wifi source. Connect the router to the Jetpack and then connect all the devices on your network to the router. We do the same thing with our WiFi Ranger router.

VAP just means Virtual Access Point which is what you're doing when you use this approach. As schneid noted it is good with Tengonet or other park systems that limit the number of connected devices. To the park's AP your router looks like one device even if everything on your network is connected through it.
