Jack TV antenna problem

Just installed a new Jack antenna along with the signal finder on the old Winegard post. Got ZERO channels--even in Knoxville! The old antenna booster was ON. So we removed the signal finder. Voila! What gives? Too many volts (signal finder has a 9V battery)? I had a batwing Winegard/Wingman before. Is the Jack considered to be a better antenna? Thanks. Jim

  • It sounds like you are trying to connect the meter between the antenna and the power supply when you actually need to connect the meter where the coax outputs from the power supply and heads to the splitter sending the signal to all TV's.
  • I just installed a Jack, too. Working fine and pleased with results. I am not using the signal meter. I recall reading in another Jack thread that someone had trouble with the signal meter and removed the 9V battery and it started working. Might try that.

BTW, it took me longer to get myself and my tools up on the roof than it did to switch out the batwing with the Jack. Very easy install, at least for me.
  • Something is definitely wrong. I used a splitter between the Jack power injector and the TV and put the signal meter on one side of the splitter.
  • If it is the SureLok the meter needs to be installed between the TV and the wallplate. Make sure that the cable from the wallplate is connected to the antenna in and that TV out is connected to the TV.
  • Not sure what the signal finder does, but I replaced my very old Winegard Batwing with a Jack and have been quite pleased with it. I can't compare a new Jack with a newer Winegard but the Jack is pretty good.
