I too have bad eyes, a 10" screen, and had a little Asus that I loved and still miss! It lasted 6 or 7 years, until I nuked it with a MSW inverter this spring.
Do you know that you can increase the size of the font on webpages and many other programs by hitting ctrl and the + sign, multiple times? You can make most fonts huge. I do it.
For word processing I use the menu to set the font to something I can read while typing and editing, and then smallify it before printing or mailing.
Maybe this way you can get by with your old computer?
If you have access to a cheap repair person or can DIY I could send you an HP I have, but it is 10". It has a bloatware problem and a broken charger/battery connector. I don't know if this is useful to you or not.
