Know a good alternative to Garmin Basecamp

I still have MapSource loaded and use it. Only use BaseCamp for geotagging photos, a utility I love. I don't need to keep track of where I am when I take a shot ... instead just load the GPS track, select the folder the images are in, and all the images taken during the track's timeframe are geotagged and waypointed on the map. Handy stuff!

I have to agree that it's not all that user-friendly. I plan out my trip with Delorme Street Atlas, and then put that route in Basecamp and then transfer to my Nuvi. I would hate to try and use Basecamp to plan out a route.
