I cannot get DSL out where I live as the service provider is AT&T and they are focused on building more cell towers where they make more revenue (ain't it great when the private sector with their monopolies is in charge of telecommunications). I use a 4G wireless with Millenicom for internet access and paid $$450 for the equipment we use and pay $180 for the Millenicom ISP fees.
You can start your son and daughter off for $100 for the Mifi device and the lowest monthly rate plan from Millenicom. First you need to find online a cell tower map to see which provider has leased space on the tower closest to their home. In my case the only tower that has line of sight to my house is one with a Verizonwireless transceiver.
I am glad that so far the Republicans have failed with their ongoing efforts to privatize the US Postal Service or I would be having to drive 15 miles to the nearest post office to pickup my mail.
