Suggestions please....looking at replacing old crt unit in fiver.

Suggestions depend on the size you are considering. If less than 40" screen, just get the least expensive unit you can find which has the connections you need and decent sound (if you use the TV speakers).
If you are looking at 40" and up, LED is the way to go for sure. CNET.COM has a lot of great reviews on TV's. I'm partial to Vizio, Samsung and Sharp models, personally. But these days, there are lots of great options out there for some amazing prices. I just got a Sharp Aquos (60") got the condo for $999! Amazing picture.
